Andrew Wilson, a first year architecture student at Glasgow School of Art, joined us for three weeks this summer as an intern. He was tasked with creating a visual history of the practice in pen and ink, illustrating the buildings we have occupied over the years as the business has grown, and designing a new work area within the studio using CAD.
“The internship has given me a good insight into how important team work is in a professional practice,” Andrew commented. “I’ve really enjoyed working here, everyone has been friendly and there’s a very nice atmosphere.” Andrew is particularly interested in the Brutalist style of architecture, community projects for regeneration, and sustainability and the circular economy in design and construction.
Jen Bernard, managing director of Bernard Interiors said: “We are committed to the professional development of designers at all levels. Andrew emailed to ask about working over the summer so we invited him in to discuss his approach and portfolio. We were impressed by his ideas and we are very pleased with the work he has done. We wish him every success as he goes back to study.”
